Gore and UN panel win Nobel prize

It is encouraging to hear that the global climate effort is finally being recognized. The prize is awarded based on a judgement of an endeavor from the simplest perspective.

Disregard the figures and "scientific consensus", shouldn't we be more considerate on the environment at this very moment? Shouldn't we be acting soon enough to prevent everything from going irreversible? Assuming no political agenda, I believe Gore is acting from this simple perspective as well.
