Home Sweet Home...

Back from more than 24 hours consecutive work and a TKD class, physically I have collapsed totally. Now it’s time for my 24 hours sleep…

Yet some random thoughts:

1) Pressure through a short time doesn’t necessarily make me achieve everything
2) Some bitter at work though, I will adhere to my goal of learning in this job
3) Proud that my students are improving along with me. Suddenly think of the song WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD again:
I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
…”
4) Thanks to Petrochina(0857), work hard China Construction Bank(0939)~
5) How come it takes so long for my lunchbox to arrive?

Staying Overnight...

Tonight is the first time in my working career that I have to stay overnight in office…

Despite the enormous amount of effort to work as fast as I can, I can hardly make it possible for the System Integration Test. To be honest the ventilation here is really poor and germs are disseminating quickly. I watched my team members dying down one by one and eventually I could not escape from taking sick leaves.

And right now three of us are stuck in this place trying to get things done for the SIT tomorrow. It is 1am in the morning and not much progress so far. May God give me some guidance as I really can’t see a persuasive reason for me to struggle so hard…

Passing dynamic offset value to struts logic:iterate tag

JSP: how to pass dynamic offset value to struts logic:iterate tag in a jsp page.

Problem Scenario:

Using <logic:iterate> tag in a JSP page, we need to pass a dynamic value for its length or offset, like this:

<bean:write name="element" property="value" offset="offsetValue" length="lengthValue"/>

where offsetValue and lengthValue are not pre-defined.

Solution:

The real problem I encountered was the parsing error since both <% %> quote and struts tags are server-side. Using single quote for logic:iterate offset attribute and double quotes for request.getAttribute, as below:

<%request.setAttribute("offset","1");%>
<logic:iterate name="serverTypes" id="serverType" offset='<%=(String)request.getAttribute("offset")%>' >
     <bean:write name="serverType"/>
</logic:iterate>

March JukeBox (Words)

Words (Boyzone from album “By Request”)

Smile, an everlasting smile
A smile can bring you near to me
Don't ever let me find you wrong
Cause that would bring a tear to me
This world has lost it's glory
Lets start a brand new story
Now my love
You think that I don't even mean
A single word I say...

(Repeat)
It's only words
And words are all I have
To take your heart away

Talk, in everlasting words
And dedicate them all, to me
And I will give you all my life
I'm here if you should call to me
You think that I don't even mean
a single word I say...

(Repeat)

This world has lost it's glory
Let's start a brand new story
Now, my love
You think that I don't even mean
a single word I say...

(Repeat)

Feel like running...

Isn’t it a wonderful track for exercise and practice?

Feel like running since I practicipated in Standard Chartered Marathon a month ago. I promised myself that if I can leave the office by 7:30pm, I will go running around the Shing Mun River that night, before my dinner (which is around 10pm)…

Seems that this is the only thing that can keep myself more like a human physically. If it happens that you have the time, do go for some exercise~

Strike for a Balance...

Job is stressful, life is stressful… Nothing is easy these days, yet ultimately, everything is just a matter of feelings and emotions. Higher EQ can cope with that (I hope).

Better personal management can really ease my life a little bit. At least till now I am not overwhelmed by tonnes of letters or bills on my desk. A simple monthly balance sheet can prevent me from running out of money. My outlook schedule acts as my hard drive for all the routine works, but still my brain never rests. I head on to plan for further improvements: for my career, studies, health and living standards… As in my opinion, life must proceed every day.

So I give schedule to everything including the most routine habits. With the absolute rational attitude I hope I can get everything done yet complying to sufficient sleeping hours.
